Brunnfeldweg 26 · 6433 Oetz · at the entrance to the Ötztal

Getting to Oetz.

By car, train or plane — and the thing about the station that is not in Oetz.

Oetz sits right at the entrance to the Ötztal Valley — which makes the journey shorter and more relaxed than to the villages further up: no mountain pass, no toll road in the valley, and from the Inn Valley you are here in a few minutes.

The most important thing first, because it confuses guests every year: "Ötztal" station is not in Oetz — it is in the municipality of Haiming at the valley entrance. From there, the bus brings you straight to the village.

By car

Take the A12 Inn Valley motorway to the Ötztal exit; from there it is only a few minutes on the Ötztal road to Oetz. You need a vignette for the Austrian motorway; there is no toll and no pass road in the valley itself.

In winter, winter tyres are mandatory in Austria. You will not normally need snow chains for Oetz — the road is cleared. Parking is right at the house and included for guests.

  • A12 to the Ötztal exit, then a few minutes into the valley
  • Vignette for the motorway, no toll in the valley
  • Winter: winter tyres yes, chains normally no
  • Free parking right at the house

By train & bus — the Ötztal station trick

Take the train to Ötztal Bahnhof — a stop on the Inn Valley line that is also served by long-distance trains. The station is in the municipality of Haiming at the valley entrance, not in Oetz itself; it confuses many guests every year, but it is no problem at all: the local bus towards the Ötztal leaves right outside the station and stops in Oetz. There is also a taxi rank.
