There is something new on the mountain above Oetz — and something Austria has never had before: on the reservoir in Hochoetz, at over 2,000 metres, a complete climbing course has been floating since summer 2025. 28 obstacles hang above the water like a low ropes course — climb, balance, jump. And if you fail an element, you land in the lake. That is precisely the point.
From our holiday apartments at the Urlaubsplatzl you reach the valley station of the Acherkogel cable car in just a few minutes — up, over to the lake, wetsuit on, go. Here is everything you need to know beforehand: prices, times, minimum age and the question of just how wet you really get.

28 obstacles — and a colour system like a ski slope
The course is made up of modular, floating elements built for different ability levels. Orientation works just like in a ski area: colours indicate the difficulty. Of the 28 obstacles, 12 are easy, 11 moderate and 5 genuinely tough — so you decide for yourself how much you want to suffer. Nobody needs to be a pro: beginners manage the easy elements too, and families, groups of friends and school classes have a great time here.

Who can take part — and what you need
The rules are quickly told, but they matter so you do not make the trip up for nothing: minimum age 8, height from 1.20 m, able to swim more than 25 m and a maximum body weight of 120 kg. You do not have to lug the equipment along: wetsuit and buoyancy aid are included in the admission price and handed out on site. What you should bring is closed shoes — these are compulsory; alternatively you can buy neoprene shoes on site. Plus a towel and a change of clothes, of course.

Getting wet is part of the deal
The principle is honest: if you fail an element, you fall into the water — wearing a wetsuit and buoyancy aid, so well protected and surprisingly funny. That is exactly what the park lives on: you dare more because failing has a soft landing. The reservoir sits at over 2,000 metres, so the water is suitably fresh — the wetsuit is not a decorative item. Plan your time slot so that you still have sun afterwards, and pack dry things. For spectators who prefer to stay dry: everything can be followed comfortably from the shore.

When is the Ninja Park Hochoetz open?
In summer 2026 the Ninja Park is open from 4 June to 27 September, daily from 10:00 to 15:00. Booking is in time slots at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00. The Acherkogel cable car runs daily from 09:00 to 16:30.
How do you get from Oetz to the Ninja Park?
Take the Acherkogel cable car straight from Oetz up to Hochoetz — from the Urlaubsplatzl it is only a few minutes to the valley station. At the top, a short walk brings you to the reservoir. The best value is the combi ticket, which already includes the ride up and admission.
