Oetz is the gateway to the Ötztal Valley — and in summer one of the sunniest corners of Tyrol: the village sits on a sunny plateau at 820 m, surrounded by alpine pastures, forests and one of the warmest swimming lakes in the Alps. Holidaying here, you barely need a car: hiking trails, the Acherkogelbahn cable car and the path to Lake Piburg start practically at the front door of our Urlaubsplatzl.

Hiking — from valley strolls to summit tours
Around Oetz, hiking starts right outside the door: easy paths along the Ötztaler Ache river, shady forest trails up to Lake Piburg and panoramic high routes above the valley. The Acherkogelbahn floats you from Oetz up to Hochoetz — where alpine pastures, panorama trails, the Widiversum mountain playground and rustic huts await.

Lake Piburg — one of Tyrol's warmest swimming lakes
Nestled between forest and rock, Lake Piburg lies just above Oetz — the natural jewel and landmark of the region. In summer the water warms to around 24 degrees; do a morning lap around the lake, jump off the jetty or rent a rowing boat. On foot, it is a leisurely hike from Urlaubsplatzl.

Area 47 — Europe's biggest outdoor playground
At the entrance to the Ötztal, around 15 minutes by car from Urlaubsplatzl, lies Area 47: a huge adventure park of water park, high ropes course, climbing walls and adrenaline attractions. Perfect for an action-packed day with family or friends — from the giant slide to deep-water soloing.

Rafting & canyoning on the Ötztaler Ache
